Going Native in Rootnak... Een introductie
Omschrijving:
In dit reisdagboek deel ik met jullie mijn reiservaringen met Rootnak, de plek waar ik al een tijdje vertoef. Hopelijk vinden jullie het leuk om te lezen!
Rootnak is een zeer klein plaatsje met zo’n vijfenveertig inwoners. Ondanks haar kleine afmetingen kent zij echter een grote bedrijvigheid. Zo zijn de locals doordeweeks hard aan het werk. Het lijkt alsof het merendeel dezelfde soort ambt bekleedt, maar wat die ambt precies inhoudt, is op het eerste gezicht niet meteen duidelijk. Daarom is het aan te raden om als toerist Rootnak niet in een dagje uit te spelen, maar de tijd te nemen om de plek en haar inwoners echt te leren kennen.
Door haar dynamische karakter en vernuftige technologie doet de plek modern aan. Zo wordt het klimaat er kunstmatig beheerd. De mens staat boven de natuur en juist dat maakt Rootnak zo bijzonder! De plaats wordt gekenmerkt door microklimaten. Het kan zomaar voorkomen dat het zuidelijke gedeelte aanvoelt als de Saharawoestijn, terwijl op hetzelfde moment het noordelijke gedeelte net een ijskast is. De lucht is over het algemeen schoon, maar kent een lager zuurstofpercentage dan in de naburig gelegen gebieden. Dit leidt geregeld tot vermoeidheid, duizeligheid en misselijkheid onder de Rootnakkers. Mocht je Rootnak bezoeken, is het dus aan te raden een zuurstofmasker mee te nemen in je handbagage.
Ondanks de vernuftige technologie die Rootnak kent, staat zij tegelijk ook nog duidelijk in contact met het verleden. De antieke marmeren pilaren die je op elke hoek vindt nemen je mee naar de Romeinse Tijd en doen niet onder voor de zuilen van het Pantheon. Qua voeding kent Rootnak een conservatieve traditie waarbij men nog steeds dagelijks dode dieren serveert. Iets wat wij nog moeilijk voor kunnen stellen! Er worden gelukkig wel verscheidene soorten fruit aangeboden, maar houd er rekening mee dat de voorraad doorgaans strekt tot woensdag. De ideale tijd om Rootnak te bezoeken is daarom van maandag tot woensdag.
In Rootnak wordt geen onderscheid gemaakt op basis van afkomst, leeftijd, geslacht of rang. Althans, niet op papier. Als je hier langer verblijft, zal je echter zien dat deze samenleving nog ver verwijderd is van een democratie zoals wij die kennen. Er worden bijvoorbeeld op wekelijkse basis dorpsbijeenkomsten georganiseerd waarbij de Rootnakkers de gelegenheid krijgen om hun mening te geven over bestuurlijke veranderingen, maar het is niet vanzelfsprekend dat het dorpshoofd deze adviezen ook daadwerkelijk opvolgt.
Ik hoop dat jullie na het lezen van dit eerste verslag al een beetje een beeld hebben bij Rootnak en haar inwoners. In de volgende verslagen zal ik dieper ingaan op mijn belevenissen in dit bijzondere en eigenzinnige oord!

Going Native in Rootnak... Een introductie
Omschrijving:
In dit reisdagboek deel ik met jullie mijn reiservaringen met Rootnak, de plek waar ik al een tijdje vertoef. Hopelijk vinden jullie het leuk om te lezen!
Rootnak is een zeer klein plaatsje met zo’n vijfenveertig inwoners. Ondanks haar kleine afmetingen kent zij echter een grote bedrijvigheid. Zo zijn de locals doordeweeks hard aan het werk. Het lijkt alsof het merendeel dezelfde soort ambt bekleedt, maar wat die ambt precies inhoudt, is op het eerste gezicht niet meteen duidelijk. Daarom is het aan te raden om als toerist Rootnak niet in een dagje uit te spelen, maar de tijd te nemen om de plek en haar inwoners echt te leren kennen.
Door haar dynamische karakter en vernuftige technologie doet de plek modern aan. Zo wordt het klimaat er kunstmatig beheerd. De mens staat boven de natuur en juist dat maakt Rootnak zo bijzonder! De plaats wordt gekenmerkt door microklimaten. Het kan zomaar voorkomen dat het zuidelijke gedeelte aanvoelt als de Saharawoestijn, terwijl op hetzelfde moment het noordelijke gedeelte net een ijskast is. De lucht is over het algemeen schoon, maar kent een lager zuurstofpercentage dan in de naburig gelegen gebieden. Dit leidt geregeld tot vermoeidheid, duizeligheid en misselijkheid onder de Rootnakkers. Mocht je Rootnak bezoeken, is het dus aan te raden een zuurstofmasker mee te nemen in je handbagage.
Ondanks de vernuftige technologie die Rootnak kent, staat zij tegelijk ook nog duidelijk in contact met het verleden. De antieke marmeren pilaren die je op elke hoek vindt nemen je mee naar de Romeinse Tijd en doen niet onder voor de zuilen van het Pantheon. Qua voeding kent Rootnak een conservatieve traditie waarbij men nog steeds dagelijks dode dieren serveert. Iets wat wij nog moeilijk voor kunnen stellen! Er worden gelukkig wel verscheidene soorten fruit aangeboden, maar houd er rekening mee dat de voorraad doorgaans strekt tot woensdag. De ideale tijd om Rootnak te bezoeken is daarom van maandag tot woensdag.
In Rootnak wordt geen onderscheid gemaakt op basis van afkomst, leeftijd, geslacht of rang. Althans, niet op papier. Als je hier langer verblijft, zal je echter zien dat deze samenleving nog ver verwijderd is van een democratie zoals wij die kennen. Er worden bijvoorbeeld op wekelijkse basis dorpsbijeenkomsten georganiseerd waarbij de Rootnakkers de gelegenheid krijgen om hun mening te geven over bestuurlijke veranderingen, maar het is niet vanzelfsprekend dat het dorpshoofd deze adviezen ook daadwerkelijk opvolgt.
Ik hoop dat jullie na het lezen van dit eerste verslag al een beetje een beeld hebben bij Rootnak en haar inwoners. In de volgende verslagen zal ik dieper ingaan op mijn belevenissen in dit bijzondere en eigenzinnige oord!

Going Native in Rootnak... Een introductie
Omschrijving:
In dit reisdagboek deel ik met jullie mijn reiservaringen met Rootnak, de plek waar ik al een tijdje vertoef. Hopelijk vinden jullie het leuk om te lezen!
Rootnak is een zeer klein plaatsje met zo’n vijfenveertig inwoners. Ondanks haar kleine afmetingen kent zij echter een grote bedrijvigheid. Zo zijn de locals doordeweeks hard aan het werk. Het lijkt alsof het merendeel dezelfde soort ambt bekleedt, maar wat die ambt precies inhoudt, is op het eerste gezicht niet meteen duidelijk. Daarom is het aan te raden om als toerist Rootnak niet in een dagje uit te spelen, maar de tijd te nemen om de plek en haar inwoners echt te leren kennen.
Door haar dynamische karakter en vernuftige technologie doet de plek modern aan. Zo wordt het klimaat er kunstmatig beheerd. De mens staat boven de natuur en juist dat maakt Rootnak zo bijzonder! De plaats wordt gekenmerkt door microklimaten. Het kan zomaar voorkomen dat het zuidelijke gedeelte aanvoelt als de Saharawoestijn, terwijl op hetzelfde moment het noordelijke gedeelte net een ijskast is. De lucht is over het algemeen schoon, maar kent een lager zuurstofpercentage dan in de naburig gelegen gebieden. Dit leidt geregeld tot vermoeidheid, duizeligheid en misselijkheid onder de Rootnakkers. Mocht je Rootnak bezoeken, is het dus aan te raden een zuurstofmasker mee te nemen in je handbagage.
Ondanks de vernuftige technologie die Rootnak kent, staat zij tegelijk ook nog duidelijk in contact met het verleden. De antieke marmeren pilaren die je op elke hoek vindt nemen je mee naar de Romeinse Tijd en doen niet onder voor de zuilen van het Pantheon. Qua voeding kent Rootnak een conservatieve traditie waarbij men nog steeds dagelijks dode dieren serveert. Iets wat wij nog moeilijk voor kunnen stellen! Er worden gelukkig wel verscheidene soorten fruit aangeboden, maar houd er rekening mee dat de voorraad doorgaans strekt tot woensdag. De ideale tijd om Rootnak te bezoeken is daarom van maandag tot woensdag.
In Rootnak wordt geen onderscheid gemaakt op basis van afkomst, leeftijd, geslacht of rang. Althans, niet op papier. Als je hier langer verblijft, zal je echter zien dat deze samenleving nog ver verwijderd is van een democratie zoals wij die kennen. Er worden bijvoorbeeld op wekelijkse basis dorpsbijeenkomsten georganiseerd waarbij de Rootnakkers de gelegenheid krijgen om hun mening te geven over bestuurlijke veranderingen, maar het is niet vanzelfsprekend dat het dorpshoofd deze adviezen ook daadwerkelijk opvolgt.
Ik hoop dat jullie na het lezen van dit eerste verslag al een beetje een beeld hebben bij Rootnak en haar inwoners. In de volgende verslagen zal ik dieper ingaan op mijn belevenissen in dit bijzondere en eigenzinnige oord!

Going Native in Rootnak... Een introductie
Omschrijving:
In dit reisdagboek deel ik met jullie mijn reiservaringen met Rootnak, de plek waar ik al een tijdje vertoef. Hopelijk vinden jullie het leuk om te lezen!
Rootnak is een zeer klein plaatsje met zo’n vijfenveertig inwoners. Ondanks haar kleine afmetingen kent zij echter een grote bedrijvigheid. Zo zijn de locals doordeweeks hard aan het werk. Het lijkt alsof het merendeel dezelfde soort ambt bekleedt, maar wat die ambt precies inhoudt, is op het eerste gezicht niet meteen duidelijk. Daarom is het aan te raden om als toerist Rootnak niet in een dagje uit te spelen, maar de tijd te nemen om de plek en haar inwoners echt te leren kennen.
Door haar dynamische karakter en vernuftige technologie doet de plek modern aan. Zo wordt het klimaat er kunstmatig beheerd. De mens staat boven de natuur en juist dat maakt Rootnak zo bijzonder! De plaats wordt gekenmerkt door microklimaten. Het kan zomaar voorkomen dat het zuidelijke gedeelte aanvoelt als de Saharawoestijn, terwijl op hetzelfde moment het noordelijke gedeelte net een ijskast is. De lucht is over het algemeen schoon, maar kent een lager zuurstofpercentage dan in de naburig gelegen gebieden. Dit leidt geregeld tot vermoeidheid, duizeligheid en misselijkheid onder de Rootnakkers. Mocht je Rootnak bezoeken, is het dus aan te raden een zuurstofmasker mee te nemen in je handbagage.
Ondanks de vernuftige technologie die Rootnak kent, staat zij tegelijk ook nog duidelijk in contact met het verleden. De antieke marmeren pilaren die je op elke hoek vindt nemen je mee naar de Romeinse Tijd en doen niet onder voor de zuilen van het Pantheon. Qua voeding kent Rootnak een conservatieve traditie waarbij men nog steeds dagelijks dode dieren serveert. Iets wat wij nog moeilijk voor kunnen stellen! Er worden gelukkig wel verscheidene soorten fruit aangeboden, maar houd er rekening mee dat de voorraad doorgaans strekt tot woensdag. De ideale tijd om Rootnak te bezoeken is daarom van maandag tot woensdag.
In Rootnak wordt geen onderscheid gemaakt op basis van afkomst, leeftijd, geslacht of rang. Althans, niet op papier. Als je hier langer verblijft, zal je echter zien dat deze samenleving nog ver verwijderd is van een democratie zoals wij die kennen. Er worden bijvoorbeeld op wekelijkse basis dorpsbijeenkomsten georganiseerd waarbij de Rootnakkers de gelegenheid krijgen om hun mening te geven over bestuurlijke veranderingen, maar het is niet vanzelfsprekend dat het dorpshoofd deze adviezen ook daadwerkelijk opvolgt.
Ik hoop dat jullie na het lezen van dit eerste verslag al een beetje een beeld hebben bij Rootnak en haar inwoners. In de volgende verslagen zal ik dieper ingaan op mijn belevenissen in dit bijzondere en eigenzinnige oord!

[description] => In dit reisdagboek deel ik met jullie mijn reiservaringen met Rootnak, de plek waar ik al een tijdje vertoef. Hopelijk vinden jullie het leuk om te lezen!
Rootnak is een zeer klein plaatsje met zo’n vijfenveertig inwoners. Ondanks haar kleine afmetingen kent zij echter een grote bedrijvigheid. Zo zijn de locals doordeweeks hard aan het werk. Het lijkt alsof het merendeel dezelfde soort ambt bekleedt, maar wat die ambt precies inhoudt, is op het eerste gezicht niet meteen duidelijk. Daarom is het aan te raden om als toerist Rootnak niet in een dagje uit te spelen, maar de tijd te nemen om de plek en haar inwoners echt te leren kennen.
Door haar dynamische karakter en vernuftige technologie doet de plek modern aan. Zo wordt het klimaat er kunstmatig beheerd. De mens staat boven de natuur en juist dat maakt Rootnak zo bijzonder! De plaats wordt gekenmerkt door microklimaten. Het kan zomaar voorkomen dat het zuidelijke gedeelte aanvoelt als de Saharawoestijn, terwijl op hetzelfde moment het noordelijke gedeelte net een ijskast is. De lucht is over het algemeen schoon, maar kent een lager zuurstofpercentage dan in de naburig gelegen gebieden. Dit leidt geregeld tot vermoeidheid, duizeligheid en misselijkheid onder de Rootnakkers. Mocht je Rootnak bezoeken, is het dus aan te raden een zuurstofmasker mee te nemen in je handbagage.
Ondanks de vernuftige technologie die Rootnak kent, staat zij tegelijk ook nog duidelijk in contact met het verleden. De antieke marmeren pilaren die je op elke hoek vindt nemen je mee naar de Romeinse Tijd en doen niet onder voor de zuilen van het Pantheon. Qua voeding kent Rootnak een conservatieve traditie waarbij men nog steeds dagelijks dode dieren serveert. Iets wat wij nog moeilijk voor kunnen stellen! Er worden gelukkig wel verscheidene soorten fruit aangeboden, maar houd er rekening mee dat de voorraad doorgaans strekt tot woensdag. De ideale tijd om Rootnak te bezoeken is daarom van maandag tot woensdag.
In Rootnak wordt geen onderscheid gemaakt op basis van afkomst, leeftijd, geslacht of rang. Althans, niet op papier. Als je hier langer verblijft, zal je echter zien dat deze samenleving nog ver verwijderd is van een democratie zoals wij die kennen. Er worden bijvoorbeeld op wekelijkse basis dorpsbijeenkomsten georganiseerd waarbij de Rootnakkers de gelegenheid krijgen om hun mening te geven over bestuurlijke veranderingen, maar het is niet vanzelfsprekend dat het dorpshoofd deze adviezen ook daadwerkelijk opvolgt.
Ik hoop dat jullie na het lezen van dit eerste verslag al een beetje een beeld hebben bij Rootnak en haar inwoners. In de volgende verslagen zal ik dieper ingaan op mijn belevenissen in dit bijzondere en eigenzinnige oord!
